Review: Ultra Water-full Jelly Mist

By: Sarah Bond

Its the middle of summer and everything is heating up, including the temperature. The heat and humidity can be unbearable in summer. Our skin becomes dry, oily, or red with prolonged exposure to the sun and it's heat. There are plenty of methods to prevent damage and soothe the skin from the heat but today we will be talking about mists and in particular Missha's Ultra Water-full Jelly Mist.

Mists have been around for awhile in the beauty community they are multi-purposed and perfect for any skin care problem during the day. Mists can calm the skin's ph, soothe irritation, reduce oil, hydrate, moisturize, and brighten complexion. What makes them a necessity to every summer routine is their convenient quality. They are easy to carry in a purse or bag and easy to apply with their spray bottle design. They are also pleasing to spray on the skin when the face is overheated from the sun.

Reviewing the ingredients we found that Missha did not state any particular ingredients that are key in the serum. But looking the the ingredients we found that Missha had incorporated quite a few interesting extracts found from the adasonia tree, adenium obesum plant, prickly pear cactus, star fruit, lychee fruit, and rambutan fruit. Most ingredients are antibacterial, antioxidizing, hydrating, moisturizing, and soothing. Below, similar to last time, we will note every ingredient and give a description for its function.

After reviewing and researching all of the listed ingredients the overall product seems straightforward. The Ultra Water-full Jelly Mist is loaded with humectants to hydrate and keep the skin moisturized. We weren't expecting to find various ingredients that are antibacterial and antimicrobial. These ingredients were a great addition for those with acne or oily skin. The formula was also loaded with antioxidants, which was expected. This addition prevents damage from the sun during the day. Extra ingredients were added to control texture, scent, and ph. Most of these are naturally occurring compounds.

I used the mist for a few days while I had worked at the shop, I'm in my 20's, my skin is dry, and I have a fair complexion. Its price is similar to other sprays, so not particularly expensive or cheap. Despite it being a spray the texture is quite thick. Just like advertised its consistency is similar to jelly. During days where I had worn thick makeup it did smear my makeup in an unpleasant way. But despite the smearing and oily feel I experienced no break outs. On days where I had applied thinner makeup the spray was quickly absorbed by my skin. There was no tacky feeling on the surface of my skin during the first application but if layered it can get quite sticky. The fragrance for me was quite hard to detect when sprayed but after spraying it into my palm I could detect some of the lychee fruit and alcohol. Its not particularly unpleasant and actually smells quite refreshing.

After using the spray for a few days, I would suggest this for those with normal to dry skin and acne prone skin. It was hydrating and moisturizing but it could be a little heavy for oily skin. And the added alcohol could be irritating for sensitive skin. But these added alcohol and antibacterial ingredients really help soothe and refresh the skin after a hot day. Great for preventing breakouts during the day. There is a fragrance but its not unpleasant to me but to some the slight alcohol scent could be irritating. I've tried the other Ultra Water-full Products by Missha and most of them were higher quality items. The sprays price fits in with the rest of the line. But to me the mist wasn't particularly awe-inspiring. There were no added benefits its just your average moisturizing mist in my opinion.
